ospice of Siouxland began serving patients and families in 1981. Initially, services were provided as a volunteer organization. In 1984, this program successfully met the standards required to become a Medicare certified Hospice program.
Through the years, Hospice of Siouxland has striven to meet the needs of patients and their families who were faced with a life-limiting illness.
Hospice of Siouxland has flourished due to a strong collaboration with area physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, other health care providers, churches and the community.
• In response to identified community needs Hospice of Siouxland started the Siouxland Palliative Care program in 2001. This program provides services to individuals and caregivers coping with advanced illness regardless of life expectancy or treatment goals.
• In 2011, Hospice of Siouxland became accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program.
• A satellite office was opened in South Sioux City, Neb., in 2011 to expand services in Nebraska.
