Hospice enhances care in nursing and assisted living facilities. Nursing facility staff have specialized expertise in long-term care, and Hospice of Siouxland staff have specialized expertise in the care of those who are living the last months of life. The combined strengths work together to create the highest quality, most compassionate care possible for facility residents and their families.
The hospice team – nurse, social worker, chaplain, volunteer, hospice aide – manages personal, individualized and comfort care by scheduling regular visits to coordinate the resident’s symptom management and care-planning with facility staff.
Hospice staff also are available 24/7 to answer questions, solve problems, or make visits as needed. Their emotional, spiritual and personal care support is supplemental to that routinely provided by facilities.
Together, the nursing facilities and Hospice of Siouxland staff work to meet the needs of those living the last months of life in a comprehensive, compassionate manner that benefits both the resident and their family members.
