o single word can describe the care and respect given each patient we serve at Hospice of Siouxland.
It starts with compassion, respect and faith. And, given our three decades of experience with serving Siouxland, it also means providing unmatched comprehensive care to anyone who walks through our doors.
From physicians and our knowledgable health care family, to volunteers and staff, we understand your emotions, your fears and your concerns. We work with all families and patients to cope with end-of-life issues and work to ensure the best care possible in your time of need.
So how does Hospice of Siouxland help?
We offer a model of care that focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting patients with a life expectancy of six months or less. Hospice involves an interdisciplinary approach to provide medical care, pain management and emotional and spiritual support. The emphasis is on comfort, not curing. It can be provided in the patient’s home as well as freestanding hospice facilities, hospitals, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
Hospice is a type of care and a philosophy of care that focuses on mitigating symptoms associated with a terminal or serious illness. These symptoms can be physical, emotional, spiritual or psychosocial in nature.
Hospice care focuses on bringing comfort, self-respect and quality of life to people in the final months of life. Patients’ symptoms and pain are controlled, goals of care are discussed and emotional needs are supported. Hospice believes that the end of life is not a medical experience, it is a human experience that benefits from the expert medical and holistic support that hospice offers.
